Arrival Tokyo mid afternoon. Meet your specialist bi-lingual tour manager and professional motorcoach driver. Known for its towering skyscrapers, bustling streets, and efficient public transportation, Tokyo is also home to serene temples, historic districts like Asakusa, and tranquil gardens. Our morning city tour begins at the lively Toyosu Market, the world's largest wholesale fish market, having replaced the historic Tsukiji Market in 2018. Tsukiji Fish Market. Visitors can observe the early morning tuna auctions from a second-floor viewing deck and explore the market's various sections dedicated to seafood, fruits, and vegetables. Transfer to Asakusa, home to the historic Senso-ji Temple, where the scent of incense fills the air and traditional shops line Nakamise Street. Buffet lunch included. Continue to the Tokyo Skytree provides panoramic views of the sprawling cityscape from one of the tallest towers in the world. The day concludes with a visit to the Tokyo National Museum, where Japan’s artistic and historical treasures are beautifully displayed, offering a deeper understanding of the nation’s heritage. After breakfast, travel outside of Tokyo. Visit a local farm cultivating leafy greens, daikon radish, onions, turnips and rapeseed. Japan is in the Northern Hemisphere, so they will be at the end of their winter growing season and perhaps sowing their spring crops. Lunch included. Continue to the coast for a visit to a fishery. After breakfast, check out and transfer to Tokyo main station. Our main luggage will be transported to meet us in two days. We will board the bullet train (Shinkan-sen) with our overnight bag and travel to Kyoto. Continue to a farm visit to learn about Japanese green tea cultivation. Sampling of tea. Proceed north of Kyoto to the small village of Kameoka to check into the Ryokan Keizankaku for an authentic and tranquil Japanese experience, blending traditional hospitality with natural beauty. Your traditional Japanese-style rooms will have tatami mats and futon bedding. This evening enjoy the main feature of a ryokan, the natural hot spring baths, which include both indoor and outdoor options. The outdoor baths are set amidst a Japanese garden, providing a peaceful ambiance. A special dinner (multi-course kaiseki) will be served at the hotel. Perhaps after dinner, some would like to sing karaoke. Ryokan Kiezankaku or similar. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast depart to Kyoto. A visit to Kyoto is a journey into the heart of Japan’s cultural and historical heritage. Encounter centuries-old temples like Kinkaku-ji, with its shimmering golden pavilion, and serene Zen gardens at Ryoan-ji. The city’s neighborhoods—from the traditional wooden teahouses of Gion, where geisha still entertain, to the bustling Nishiki Market filled with Kyoto delicacies—offer a rich contrast of the old and new. See the iconic red torii gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine. Lunch included. Visit Nijo-jo Castle and Nishiki Market. Also visit a few of the temples. Dinner on own. Hotel Monterey Kyoto or similar. After breakfast, depart to visit a Wagyu beef farm. Wagyu beef is a highly prized variety of Japanese beef known for its exceptional tenderness, rich flavor, and intense marbling—the fine, intramuscular fat that gives it a buttery texture and melt-in-your-mouth quality. The word "Wagyu" simply means “Japanese cow,” but it refers specifically to four native breeds: Japanese Black (Kuroge Washu), Japanese Brown, Japanese Shorthorn, and Japanese Polled, with the Japanese Black being the most widely raised and renowned for premium quality. What sets Wagyu apart is the careful breeding, strict feeding regimens, and stress-free environments in which the cattle are raised. Lunch included. After breakfast, check out and transfer to the train station. Once again we will travel with a small bag and our larger bag will be sent to Tokyo.Travel by bullet train to Hiroshima. The journey begins at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, where visitors reflect at the haunting Atomic Bomb Dome, one of the few structures left standing near the 1945 bomb’s hypocenter. Nearby, the Peace Memorial Museum offers powerful exhibits and testimonies that convey the human impact of the bombing and the global importance of peace. After the emotional weight of the memorials, a short ferry ride leads to Miyajima Island, home to the iconic floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, which appears to rise from the sea at high tide. Enjoy the island with its friendly deer, forested trails, and panoramic views from Mount Misen. Return to mainland and check into hotel. Dinner included. ANA Crown Plaza Hotel Hiroshima or similar.
